Clavamox by Pfizer Animal Health is a combination of two medications. Amoxicillin and Clavulanate, which is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat certain types of bacterial infection. Amoxicillin is a derivative of penicillin which when combined with Clavulanate possesses an increased effectiveness against bacterial infections. The Clavulanate acid portion of this combination may often cause stomach irritation in your pet. It is therefore recommended that this antibacterial combination be given just before or just after the feeding of your pet. Clavamox may be prescribed for multiple species including dogs and cats.
